4 out of 5: The "Time"
of the Sports World
omegareport, February 03 2005
Yes, Sports Illustrated is mainstream and often
predictable. Yes, the swimsuit issue is prehistoric and
offensive to many. And yes, they've put Michael Jordan
on the cover 50 times. But it's usually pretty well
written (and sometimes very well written), they do cover
a pretty broad variety of sports, and the photographs
are always stunning. It's amazing that in this age of
televised live digital technology, Sports Illustrated's
photos still are often more interesting to view than the
televised events. If you like sports but don't have time
or have better things to do than watch Sports center
every night, Sports Illustrated is a reliable, quick,
and enjoyable way to stay on top of the US's major
sports stories week by week. It's also the magazine that
I always pick up first at the dentist's office.

out of 5: Not What it Once Was...but still on top
Blinks55, January 26 2005
I recently let my subscription of over 30 years expire
for good. SI was once The mag for the true sports fan;
over the past few years, the writing and content has
deteriorated. Impeccably written sports journalism has
been replaced by jabbering tabloid language. The writing
has become vulgar - not in the obscene sense, but
because it has been dummied down to the common and
careless language of high school jock newsletters. Pass
on by, SI...I've moved my subscription money to The
Sporting News. |

out of 5: Touchdowns, Strikes and Goals
rotten, Oct 09 '00
The articles are involved and the interviews are
fantastic. I truly enjoy the full magazine from cover to
cover. They don't hold back punches either. If a sports
member did something wrong, they get their time in the
magazine also. No holding back for this magazine. I have
read about sports characters doing drugs, drinking and
driving and other related crimes. It isn't as involved
as the good stuff, but it is part of the magazine. |

out of 5: The Only Thing I Like To Read
by charles, Jan 18 2005
Overall I think this magazine is just plain out awesome
and I will forever remain a subscriber and I think
anyone who is interested in any sport should subscribe
to this to find the latest info. on any sport and will
even like it if they don't really like professional
sports. It is much cheaper to subscribe than to buy it
off the streets so go out there and subscribe to Sports
Illustrated as soon as you can and you will just love
it. I recommend this magazine to anyone who has the
slightest interest in sports and wants to read something
that won't put them to sleep. |

out of 5: Better than ever
by frazzlespice, Jan 09 '2005
I have been a subscriber to Sports Illustrated for most
of the last 30 years. Checking out the cover at my
mailbox every Thursday is still one of the highlights of
my week. |
